Arriving in Mumbai with Swami Shankarananda

Well, after a surprisingly good flight, we arrived in India at Mumbai International airport. Having experienced Indian airports before, Dey and I were expecting long queues through immigration or delays with bags,  especially since we were arriving as part of a large group from the Shiva Ashram with whom we were spending the first two weeks in India. Despite our predictions, it went incredibly smoothly. The group of 60 were through immigration without issue and at the front of the airport only 15 minutes after leaving the plane.

As we reached the front of the airport, garlands made from beautiful flowers – marigolds and jasmine - were placed around our necks and a large sign greeted the “Shiva Ashram from Melbourne Australia”. The few people who had come earlier to organise things were buzzing about with energy, rounding people up and generally looking pretty excited!!

We made our way to the bus, however, luckily, Dey and I were herded into a 4wd with Silvja, Indira and Jo and were able to make our own way there in relative comfort.  Our driver Sanjay headed out (with piercing music blaring from the car whether we reversed!) and we began the trip to Ganeshpuri.
