Last day in Ganeshpuri…

Saturday was our last full day in Ganeshpuri and poojas had been arranged with Prasad, the Brahmin priest from the Nityananda temple. We started the day early, catching the end of Abishek at 5.30am so Shri Pad could bless two rudrakshas I had bought the day before for Swamiji and Devi.

School

Thursday we spent the morning packing ’showbags’ for school kids, filled with pens, toys, hair clips, stickers and a t-shirt from “Shiva Ashram Melbourne”. All of us went to the local school to hand out the bags to the 600 students.

Wednesday morning I went to Chai by myself and must have been the first customer for the day. Before serving me, the Chaiwalla poured two glasses of fresh chai then tipped them in a small pothole in the middle of the road, making a sign of prayer at the same time.

Yagna

Tuesday was a big day. We had a yagna at Kothavalla and 7 brahmin priests from around Maharashtra came to Ganeshpuri to perform the ritual for us. A yagna is a fire ceremony which is meant to remove karmic blocks or negative karma from the past.
